Speakers Flies Home

Sent off at 7-1, Speakers relished her role as an underdog and flew home to a comfortable 1 3/4 length win in a California Bred Allowance at 1 mile on the firm turf at Santa Anita Park. The four year old chestnut lass was last going into the first turn, moved into position on the backstretch and then made a menacing move on the turn going 6 wide into the stretch and mowing down the opposition with a dazzling turn of foot. Expertly piloted by young star rider Drayden Van Dyke for trainer Paddy Gallagher, Speakers covered the distance in 1:35.39, Speakers is owned by Eclipse Thoroughbred Partners who purchased the #AuerbachBred filly for $75,000 at the 2015 August Barrett's Select Yearling Sale. She now has a record of 10-2-3-0 and has amassed career earnings of $104,940 making her the 168th Unusual Heat child to surpass $100,000 in career earnings. She is out of Wallis of Windsor and is a full sister to stakes winner Beltene and fellow Century Club earner La Sombre, both of whom are currently producing broodmares.
